Coffee lovers around the world will now be able to experience and taste the unique flavor of Mount Ramelau coffee. Mount Ramelau, also known as Tatamailau, which means “Grandfather of All”, is the tallest mountain in Timor-Leste with a prosperous and fertile ecology that provides the special conditions for making their coffee a reference.

Mount Ramelau Coffee Goes Global

Starbucks recently added this amazing coffee line that will be exclusively available in supermarkets. We know better how awesome Timor-Leste coffee is and this is a major opportunity for growing, developing and sharing Timor products and culture worldwide.

Starbucks and East Timor: A Long Partnership

Starbucks has been buying coffee from CCT (Cooperativa Café Timor) since 1996 and has not only helped them improve the quality of their coffee but has also supported a number of social projects in East Timor.

In 2000, Starbucks helped support a health clinic by covering the initial purchase of medical supplies. In 2008, Starbucks contributed $20,000 to a social project benefitting 14,000 people in rural areas of East Timor. Today, through their relationship with CCT, Starbucks continues to support the operations of health programs and clinics in Timor.

Why Timor-Leste Coffee is Special

The high-altitude slopes of Mount Ramelau create ideal growing conditions — rich volcanic soil, cool temperatures, and regular rainfall. These factors produce a naturally sweet, full-bodied cup with low acidity that sets Timorese coffee apart from other single-origin beans. If you come across it on the shelves, don’t miss it — taste a Mount Ramelau coffee and share your experience! 🙂
